What is Smudge Cleansing?

Smudging is a way to energetically cleanse a space to invite positive energy. When smudging a space, particular plant materials are burned and the smoke fills and purifies the environment; the plant chosen depends on the purpose of the smudging. For example, White Sage is traditionally used to remove negativity. After the smudging, Soul NRG also anchors your space with crystals and infuses Reiki into the space to bring in additional healing, protective and positive energy.

When Should I Smudge?

There are no exact rules as to when you should smudge yourself or your space, or how often. Some do it seasonally, monthly or they use their own intuition as a guide. If you feel weighed down by stress or worry, if things feel like that are just not going your way or are at a stand still, it's usually a good indication that a cleansing is in order.

Acknowledgment of Smudging Tradition

Soul NRG acknowledges that the practice of burning sage is sacred in many communities and deserves our utmost respect. Smudging is deeply rooted in the traditions of Aboriginals and should be respected as such.For example, Shamans have burned sage to cleanse people of negativity and promote healing, wisdom, and longevity. This is a practice that should always be done with positive intention, as well as an appreciation for the traditions brought forth by the people before us.
